One of the things that really makes my blood boil is when those on The Right accuse people who oppose the war of not “supporting the troops” and even “supporting the enemy”.
To any rational person with some common sense and ability to think critically, this is, of course, absurb. But the perception exists, and grows.
Today, I’ve come across an article at The Counterterrorism Blog, which speaks to this issue not from the perspective of opposition to the war… but rather of those who really do “support the enemy” even though they do not fit the mold of Islamic Extremist.
August Kreis, the head of Aryan Nations said [during a CNN interview]…

This relationship will continue to grow as the jew continues to flex it’s power using the Zionist controled jew.S.of A.. There is a growing grassroots movement in this nation and around the world that identifies the jew as the enemy. As this jewish problem is identified and expounded upon there will be intensified open attacks against the jew across the globe. The jew has become brazen and has now literally helped hasten their own demise by the hand of the Goy they so despise. So keep writing your degrading articles about us for the masses are awakening!
So, the next time you hear someone saying that everyone who opposed the war in Iraq, or supports a Palestinian fighting for a future without refugee camps is supporting the terrorists, think of August Kreis and realise that there is a big difference between fighting for the rule of law and equality through activism and throwing it all away for anarchy, chaos, and authoritarian rule.

I actually had a hard time figuring out how to express what I was thinking.
My meaning I guess is that maybe if people realised just who really DOES support Al Quaeda and terrorists in America they would stop focusing their vitriol at their brothers and sisters who are simply expressing their opinion as it is their right to do so… and doing so while not meaning any harm or foul to the troops as they fight in Iraq.

Okay, now I get it. You found a really revolting anti-war protester as an example of what should offend those on both sides of the issue. Your example reminds me that I find the Rev Fred Phelps, of Topeka KS, a revolting example of anti-everything including the troops and all homosexuals and who expresses his beliefs in the most unimaginably evil manner (actually his beliefs are extraordiarily evil) .
Unfortunately, anyone who is not in favor of same sex marriage or is prolife gets tarred with the Phelps brush, unfairly IMO, all the time by those on the left.
Indeed, it works on both sides, I think people fall too easily into the trap of painting everyone with the same brush.
Some people… people who should know better… are lazy… they need to be called on it more often.
All of us need to be very careful to avoid stereotypical judgements of those we disagree with. The resulting polarization is definitely unhealthy for normal political discourse.
